Far East  - Europe GRI starting 1st of March 2012

Dear customer,

Couple of days ago Maersk Line has announced Far East  - Europe rate restoration initiative with a quantum of usd 775/1550 per 20'/40' ctnr. Rate Increase (GRI) will apply to all dry and reefer cargo moving from all Asia origins to all Europe ports including Mediterranean and North Europe as of 1st of March 2012.

A global communication matrix is sent out and now we would like to further elaborate the reasons that led us to one of the highest rate increase initiative on the trade.

It is important to highlight once again that 1st of March Rate Restoration initiative is driven by a need for more sustainable rate levels which will enable us to continue creating values for our customers. After the rate deterioration started by end 2010, we are now in a place where total revenue per container is not sustainable any more.

While we are working hard to keep our costs down, we are also focusing on creating more values for you. Moving forward, we are determined to create even greater value for our customers through innovative solutions, increased service and unmatchable reliability. But current cost versus revenue picture is putting our efforts into jeopardy and its now more challenging for us to offer most reliable service in the container shipping industry.

That makes the GRI initiative inevitable and we are looking forward to see your support.

If you have any questions, please feel free to approach your sales representative and we will be more then happy to assist.

Depunem in continuare eforturi pentru reducerea costurilor operationale si, in acelasi timp, ne concentram atentia asupra cresterii calitatii serviciilor noastre. In viitor, suntem hotarati sa crestem si mai mult calitatea serviciilor oferite dumneavoastra prin solutii noi, produs imbunatatit si respectarea timpului de tranzit promis. Raportul intre costurile curente si veniturile inregistrate pune in pericol eforturile noastre, ceea ce face dificila misiunea Maersk Line de a va oferi cel mai punctual serviciu din industria transportului maritim de marfuri containerizate.

Cauzele expuse fac inevitabila aplicarea GRI si suntem convinsi ca vom avea in continuare sustinerea dumneavoastra.
